Please review the release notes for more information about the changes included with this update. SocketTools 11 supports the current release of Windows 11 and Windows Server 2025. For the SocketTools Subscription and .NET Edition, this update includes .NET 9.0 assemblies for use with Visual Studio 2022 17.12 and later versions.
This update includes compatibility improvements for SSH servers based on older versions of OpenSSH and adds support for new encryption algorithms. Note that this update also deprecrates some older, insecure encryption and hashing algorithms such as 3DES, RC4 and MD5. While we strive to maintain backwards compatibility as much as possible, we generally recommend using servers which are based on OpenSSH 7.5 (2017) or later versions. The current release for OpenSSH is 9.9 released in 2024.
This update also includes some changes to memory management in our server-based components, including the FTP and HTTP servers as well as the general purpose TCP-based server. These changes should allow server applications to handle larger numbers of transitory connections (i.e.: client connections which are not established for long periods of time) without significantly increasing the overall memory usage of the application. We've also made some changes that should reduce the potential for CPU utilization spikes under certain circumstances where the server could spend a lot of time performing internal housekeeping with closed or aborted client connections.
You do not need to uninstall previous versions of SocketTools when installing this update. For example, if you also have SocketTools 10 installed on your development system, you do not need to uninstall that version.
The SocketTools installer packages and components have been digitally signed with an extended validation (EV) Authenticode certificate which uses SHA-256 signatures.
