SocketTools 8.0 has been released and includes two new server components, one for FTP and another for HTTP. Now you can easily include multi-threaded server functionality in your software with just a few lines of code. This release also includes new asynchronous file transfer functionality on the client side, allowing you to perform multiple background file uploads and downloads without worrying about how to create background tasks or manage multiple worker threads. There's also been general improvements throughout all of the networking components, including compatibility for Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012.
SocketTools includes both 32-bit and 64-bit components, along with support for IPv6, the next-generation Internet protocol. All three SocketTools editions include support for both standard and secure connections using SSL/TLS and SSH. The components can be installed side-by-side with previous versions, and upgrading your applications to use the new version will typically require very few changes to existing projects. Note that if you want to support IPv6 networking in your application, the most significant change will be with how Internet addresses are specified, since the format of an IPv6 address is different.
If your SocketTools Subscription is active, you can download the current version of SocketTools using the same subscription link that was provided to you when you ordered the software. However, you will not be able to use your current version 7.2 serial number to install the new version. Please contact the sales office to obtain your new serial number for version 8.0.
